Grandma's Letters

After being in our new home now for over 3 months I finally found my stack of letters from my dearly departed grandma. She wrote them while I was in college. I cherish those letters! She of all my relatives seemed the most excited about me going into the ministry. Her letters would brighten my day. I am so glad that I have hung onto them. Grandma went to be with the Lord in 1981-I was 20.

Now at 48 I go back and read again what I already read but it means something different to me now. That is how the Word of the Lord works. You can read and read and read it some more but it will always minister to you right where you need it and when you need it. I'm doing a mini series on having a devotional life. It simply means taking some time to be in the Word. The Word is God's love letter to you. He delights when He sees you open it because He has so much to say to you. He wants you to know His love for you and how He is with you through the good times and bad times of life.

The Word of God- even better than reading grandma's letters!

In Christ,
Pastor John

I've just finished reading a 4-book series (fictional)about people in Australia in the early 1900's. The author did a marvelous job of bringing Christian "warriors" into the story ...their Bibles, their FAITH, their witness in such difficult times and with many folks who express no need for God. Yes!! We need to be IN THE WORD, to be VICTORS in Christ. May each of us be a Grandma/pa to someone ... encouraging them along the paths of life.
